Alan Watts

I am a creative thinker, mathematician, and artist currently working as a Payments Processing Software Engineer at Recurly, Inc. where I contribute to an enthusiastic team that shares my passion for innovative problem solving. I earned my first Bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a double major in Math and Economics, and then returned in 2019 to finish my second Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.

In my current role at Recurly, I am responsible for full-stack development of payments flows, APIs, and webhooks centered around a Ruby on Rails framework. With my team, I am also responsible for the maintenance and development of the Recurly.js library, which is an open source client-side JavaScript library that allows our customers to securely collect payment information from their customers and tokenize it for use with our API. We also manage Golang and Node.Js third party integration microservices, and a React.Js front-end.

At my prior internship with Sporian Microsystems, I worked remotely through their private VPN and servers in order to implement a WebUI for a government contract project regarding mechanical prognostic analysis. Due to the classified nature of my work at Sporian, I am unable to display my contributions on my Github profile, but in my exit interview the CEO informed me that I am well within my NDA to discuss the technologies that we used for my work including: Python Flask Framework, Git VCS, valgrind, SQLlite, JavaScript, and Redmine Issue tracking and project management.

I am excited for any opportunity to work with experienced developers so I can grow my skill set and continue to integrate more of my passions and knowledge into my career. I hope to grow my knowledge of full-stack agile development and continue to learn new languages and frameworks.
